The new HAYGAIN 600

The duration of hay steaming depends on the type of hay, the density of the hay and the outside temperature. On average, this is between 50 and 60 minutes. The important thing is that the needle of the thermometer remains in the green area for at least 10 minutes.

The new HAYGAIN 600 offers an improved design compared to the previous model HAYGAIN 600. The lid is now equipped with gas pressure springs to give you even more safety when loading and unloading the hay. In addition, the shape of the hay container has been adapted to the HAYGAIN 2000. The capacity of approx. 12 kg of hay is retained. (This can vary depending on the condition, region and method of filling. The manufacturer's information differs with regard to the filling quantity, but refers to highly compressed bales with high moisture levels.)

The HAYGAIN 600 is therefore ideal for a large horse.

The very robust construction is suitable for installation in both barns and stables. Due to its low weight and compact design, the HAYGAIN 600 can also be taken along on trips. The insulated and double-walled hay container can withstand an internal temperature of more than 100°C - which is essential for killing mold spores and bacteria in the hay during steaming.

The problem:
More than 1 out of 6 horses has respiratory problems, which reduces performance. 80% of horses that spend part of the day in the stables suffer from respiratory diseases. Allergens such as fungal spores found in hay lead to respiratory diseases such as RAO/COPD + IAD/SAD. These spores can also be harmful to humans and often lead to hay fever and, in severe cases, farmer's lung. Other methods of treating hay can solve the dust problem, but they do not improve the hygienic quality of the hay. Soaking hay reduces its nutritional value and shelf life.

The solution:
The HAYGAIN hay steamer has been scientifically proven to eliminate harmful fungal spores and bacteria. At the heart of every hay steamer is a unique distribution pipe system that distributes the steam evenly throughout the hay, ensuring complete steam absorption. Fungal spores and bacteria are eliminated by the moist heat and high temperatures reached during the process. The result is clean, hygienic, dust-free, nutritious hay with improved mineral content, without additives for a healthier, better performing horse.

Microbiological test results with HAYGAIN

HAYGAIN hay steamers have been extensively researched and tested at the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester. The Irish Equine College has tested HAYGAIN on hay contaminated with Aspergillus spores - the most common fungal pathogen in hay - and has confirmed HAYGAIN's effectiveness in eliminating these spores. International projects will continue to keep us on the ball in research and development.
